As weird as this venture may be, it sounds about right for James Franco.
Tinseltown's favorite Renaissance Man has put out a casting notice on Actors Access, an online casting guide, for a feature film he's looking to direct about "two Hollywood celebrities." And wouldn't you know, he's searching for two actors who can pass for Lindsay Lohan and himself.
According to the casting breakdown, Franco is looking for a male to fill "James Franco Types ages 13, 21, 30, 45, and 60."
Regarding his LiLo lookalike, the thesp is seeking a female to play a "Lindsay Lohan type ages 13, 21, 30, 45 and 60."
Precious little other information about the flick was disclosed, including whether Franco or Lohan—who are said to be close pals—will be making an appearance.
But the producers listed are Miles Levy and Vince Jolivette, who are partners with Franco in Rabbit Bandini Productions, which produced his 2010 biopic Howl and are behind Lovelace, the upcoming film about porn star Linda Lovelace.
The casting notice did stipulate however that Franco's latest enterprise will be a "video/art project"—which is right up Franco's alley considering his recent adventures in the liberal arts, including playing a fictional version of himself from General Hospital for an exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles two years ago.
There's also the multimedia project he debuted at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival titled Three's Company the Drama, in which he melded video and art, and his collaborations with his Milk helmer Gus Van Sant: Endless Idaho and My Own Private River, two experimental efforts that showcased deleted scenes, outtakes and unused footage from the latter's My Own Private Idaho while exploring the career of the late actor River Phoenix.
As for Lindsay, the redheaded starlet also has an artistic streak.
Aside from mounting a comeback shooting the telefilm Liz & Dick this spring. Lohan posed with a gun in her mouth for a controversial spread shot by fashion photographer Terry Richardson. She also appeared this year as a surfer in artist Richard Phillips' art film First Point which premiered at Art Basel in Miami. And lastly, she's currently filming Bret Easton Ellis and Paul Schrader's L.A. noir The Canyons costarring adult film actor James Deen.
A rep for Franco has not yet responded for comment.
