The singer, who had said multiple times that she planned on being with child ASAP after tying the knot with Brandon Blackstock last month, tweeted the happy news this afternoon.
"I'm pregnant!!! Brandon and I are so excited! Best early Christmas present ever :)" she wrote.
A great gift, indeed, if not at all a surprise.
"I want babies!" the newlywed declared in a radio interview on Oct. 30. "Everybody keeps saying, ‘What do you want for Christmas?' And I'm like, ‘I want to be pregnant.'"
So was she actually already expecting when she went on The Tonight Show and played coy?
Asked if she had anything that she wanted to reveal, Clarkson told Jay Leno, "We are not announcing anything right now. We're not, no!"
This will be the third child for Blackstock, who has two kids, Savannah and Seth, from a previous marriage. (And this means that Reba McEntire, who's married to Blackstock's father, has another grandbaby on the way.)
Of course, the fun may have only just begun for the growing family. While Clarkson started off saying, "I probably want two more" kids relatively close in age to each other, her estimate had shot up by the time she visited Leno.
"I never wanted kids before, but now I want, like, five," she said.
And now they are well on their way. Congratulations to the whole family!
