Mark Renders/Getty ImagesPaul Walker's daughter is the sole beneficiary of his multimillion-dollar estate--and for that reason, Meadow Walker's grandmother believes she needs some extra legal protection.
The late actor's mother, Cheryl Ann Walker, is petitioning the court to be appointed guardian of the 15-year-old, stating that Meadow stands to inherit upward of $16 million and it "will be necessary and convenient for Petitioner to be appointed as the guardian of the person and of the estate," according to court documents obtained Wednesday by E! News.
Moreover, Cheryl Ann states in her March 18 filing that both Meadow and her mother (an ex-girlfriend of Walker's) live with her, and "the mother has a drinking problem."
She provides no other explanation or details regarding that statement, but it is included in the section of the filing meant to explain why she wants to be Meadow's legal guardian.
Walker's will named his father, Paul Walker III, executor of his estate, which was estimated at $25 million. (Yes, the actor was actually Paul Walker IV, according to his will.) If his dad was "unable or unwilling," then Cheryl Ann was to serve as personal representative of the estate instead. She is also listed as "dedicated guardian" of Meadow and what would become her estate.
Cheryl Ann also notes that she raised four of her own children, is a registered nurse and is a "loving and responsible person." Meadow had been living with her since before Walker's death, the filing states.
"Meadow's taking it really tough, but there again, she has family around her and some very, very loving friends and everybody they're all close," Paul III told E! News in December, just days after Walker was killed in a car crash at only 40 years old. "There's a lot of hugging. A lot of hand-holding. Wonderful people coming telling us how sorry they are."
