Harrison Ford was taken to a hospital in Oxford, England, last week after he incurred an injury on the set of Star Wars: Episode VII. Previous reports suggested that the actor, 71, had suffered a bad ankle injury.

However, Ford's left leg was broken in the accident. "His surgery was successful and he will begin rehab shortly," the star's rep told E! News Thursday. "He's doing well and looks forward to returning to work."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the injury occurred while Ford was shooting a scene aboard the Millennium Falcon, the famed spaceship that his pilots. Walt Disney Pictures confirmed that production will continue in Ford's absence, but the film studio has not commented on the Millennium Falcon report.

Ford could miss up to eight weeks of shooting, according to THR.

In addition to Ford, the movie recruited veterans Kenny Baker, Anthony Daniels, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Peter Mayhew. Newcomers include Adam Driver, Domhnall Gleeson and Lupita Nyong'o.

Stars Wars: Episode VII hits theaters on Dec. 18, 2015.
