The union that produced one Chaotic reality show, two baby boys and countless tabloid headlines is officially over.

Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Scott Gordon signed off on Britney Spears and Kevin Federline's divorce settlement Monday, making the split official. (View the court documents.)

Spears and Federline were not present for the ceremonial dissolution of their marriage, leaving the coffin-nailing to their respective attoneys, Laura Wasser and  Mark Vincent Kaplan.

"I think she's okay with the terms," Wasser said of her client outside the court. "I think they were each hoping they would have more custody time, but hopefully that can be worked out."

While the terms of the settlement were not revealed, sources say that for now the couple will continue to share joint custody of their sons and that Federline will still receive $15,000 a month in child support from Spears.

Federline is reportedly getting $20,000 a month in spousal support from his ex-wife at present, but under the terms of the couple's prenuptial agreement, those payments will end in November.

Spears, 25, and Federline, 29, previously announced in March that they had reached a "global divorce settlement on all issues of their marriage, including custody of their two children."

While it seemed as if an official split would follow soon after news of the settlement, the pair's divorce proceedings marched on.

Last month, a source close to Federline told E! News the would-be rapper was dragging his heels when it came to signing divorce papers, because he was concerned about his children's well-being amid reports of his estranged wife's increasingly erratic behavior.

"It's not about the money," the source said at the time. "It's about her partying. It's her partying ways that is forcing Kevin to put his foot down."

Though Federline has signed off on joint custody for the time being, sources tell E! News his attorney may be going to court as early as Friday to seek full custody of 22-month-old Sean Preston and 10-month -old Jayden James.
