Another day, another Empire guest star announcement, and this is a good one.

Five-time Grammy winner Mariah Carey will be heading to the Fox music drama for season two, with the show's creator, Lee Daniels breaking the epic casting news at the ceremony for Carey's Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Wednesday. (Fox has yet to respond to requests for comment.)

Carey was being honored with a star on the famous Walk of Fame just after completing a residency in Las Vegas when Daniels told the crowd to watch her on Empire. The singer had previously worked with Daniels on Precious in 2009 and Tennessee in 2008.

This will also be Carey's first major TV appearance, aside from a few episodes of Real Husbands of Hollywood, American Dad, and one episode of Ally McBeal back in 2002.

Nothing about her role is known so far, since Daniels didn't really have time to go into detail during the ceremony, but the very idea of Mariah Carey hanging out with Cookie Lyon (Taraji P. Henson) is making the wait for Sept. 23 a whole lot harder.

This is good news for star Jussie Smollett, who once told us that he really wanted Carey to come on the show. "I keep saying, and I hope they can make this happen, because she's one of Lee's closest friends, I really want to see Mariah Carey on the show," he said. Looks like dreams come true when you work for Daniels!

Of course, Carey is not the only star who will be hanging out with the Lyon family this fall. Check out the full list of all the famous faces you'll see popping up in season two:
