It is with heavy heart that we report to you guys out on the Internet that despite the buzz on Twitter, two llamas are not on the loose again. We repeat: the greatest story of 2015 is not happening again in 2016.
We're sure you feel the same way we do upon hearing this news. We'll let Parks and Recreation's Ron Swanson demonstrate our emotions at this time:
SAME, RON. SAME.
Earlier on Friday morning, NBC12 in Virginia tweeted that 2 llamas were on the loose in Chesterfield. Well, you can imagine how the Internet took the news that once again, llamas were making a break for it. Remember how glorious that day was back in 2015? Forget about the damn dress debate. The real star was those llamas capturing the hearts of the whole world.
So yeah, the Internet promptly lost its collective s--t when they saw the news:
@NBC12 We're gonna need a chopper in the air for live coverage

@NBC12 Helicopters? Drones? Did we not invent these things for televised llama chases?

I will never cheer for a Marvel or DC superhero the way I do for llamas racing for freedom.

It was shaping up to be a truly incredible Friday. Llamas on the loose again?! We had all sorts of celeb baby announcements yesterday, but already today was 100% more exciting just at the mere thought of watching llamas run wild through a city again.
But then. The darkness. It came swiftly.
Chesterfield police told Buzzfeed that after receiving a call about a "possible sighting" of llamas running loose, they didn't find anything of the sort and "the call was close."
The pain hit us like a punch to the gut. And we don't think the Internet will ever bounce back from this heartbreak.
@bryandevasher Let's not the let the facts get in the way of a good story here.

All we know for sure is that this girl is asking the real questions:
I, for one, welcome our new Llama Overlords

We choose to believe this theory over the supposed "we did not find anything" story from the police.
