Talk about one Marvelous payout!

As we all know, The Avengers was a hit at the box office (duh), but what may come as a surprise is just how much the studio might fork over to Robert Downey Jr. (aka Iron Man aka Tony Stark) for the flick.

Can you take a wild guess?

According to The Hollywood Reporter, sources claim that Downey could receive a whopping—wait for it—$50 million.

Yep, 5-0, which blows his costars' paychecks out of the water.

Two sources tell THR that Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo will make about $2 millon to $3 million on Avengers , while Samuel L. Jackson and Scarlett Johansson, who signed deals to pop up in several Marvel movies, will reportedly make about twice that.

So why the big gap?

After Iron Man's success in 2008 (the movie made $585 million worldwide), Downey's reps renegotiated a deal to include what multiple sources say is a slice of Marvel's revenue from future movies in which he plays the same character, THR reports.

The studio and Downey's rep declined to comment.
