Great Scots!

It's official: Starz's Outlander has already won the award for most gorgeous opening credits for a new TV series this year. That hauntingly beautiful song you won't be able to get out of your head? It's called "The Skye Boat Song" and comes from The Walking Dead's composer Bear McCready and is sung by his wife Raya Yarbrough.

Based on the beloved book series by Diana Gabaldon, the part-romance-part-time-travel series had a huge presence at San Diego Comic-Con, where they revealed an epic new trailer that will have you counting down the days until Aug. 9.

The series, which stars Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, just won the award for "new fall show you're most excited about" in our 2014 Best. Ever. TV. Awards tournament.

And though it's officially set to premiere on Aug. 9, Starz has decided to release the first episode a bit early on multiple TV platforms and online, beginning Aug. 2. The first season, which is 16 episodes, will be split in half, with the first eight episode airing through Sept. 27, before the second batch of episodes air in early 2015.

Outlander premieres on Aug. 9 on Starz.

Make sure to check back with us later as we chatted with the Outlander cast at Comic-Con and got all the scoop on one of the most highly anticipated shows of the year.
